The costimulatory molecule ICOS regulates the expression of c-Maf and IL-21 in the development of follicular T helper cells and T_H-17 cells

The costimulatory molecule ICOS is important for the development of both interleukin 17–producing and follicular T helper cells. Kuchroo and colleagues find that ICOS induces the transcription factor c-Maf, which regulates the population expansion of both helper cell types.

IL-2 production is actively suppressed during T_H17 differentiation. Quintana and colleagues show that the transcription factor Aiolos is induced by the transcription factors STAT3 and AhR and silences the Il2 locus.

A circular RNA activated by TGFβ promotes tumor metastasis through enhancing IGF2BP3-mediated PDPN mRNA stability

TGFbeta is known to promote cancer metastasis through the promotion of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Here, the authors demonstrate that a TGFbeta induced circular RNA (circITGB6) promotes colorectal cancer metastasis via activation of the m6A reader protein, IGF2BP3, resulting in stabilization of an EMT-promoting gene, PDPN.
