Structural colour printing using a magnetically tunable and lithographically fixable photonic crystal

Maskless high-resolution patterning of structural colours is demonstrated using a new material called ‘M-Ink’. The period of the material is patterned magnetically and a photochemical process immobilizes the structure in a polymer network.

A high-throughput optomechanical retrieval method for sequence-verified clonal DNA from the NGS platform

One of the biggest bottlenecks in large-scale DNA synthesis is the retrieval of target clonal DNA from high-density sequencing platforms. Here, the authors present a method called ‘Sniper Cloning’ that allows for precise mapping of target clone features and rapid retrieval of targets for full utilization of DNA clones.

Colour-barcoded magnetic microparticles for multiplexed bioassays

Biochemical assays that use magnetic beads are at present in frequent use. Colour-barcoded magnetic microparticles have now been created without using multiple pigmentations. The coding capacity far exceeds that of alternative spectral encoding systems and is demonstrated in a practical bioassay for DNA detection and identification.
