RNA switches are a promising tool for cell type-specific gene regulation but often suffer from insufficient specificity. Here authors developed “split RNA switches”, which integrate outputs from multiple RNA switches by exploiting protein splicing, improving specificity and increasing the ON/OFF ratio.
