Observation of entanglement between a quantum dot spin and a single photon

Fast, single-photon detection enables the observation of entanglement between a stationary quantum bit (a single quantum dot spin) and a propagating quantum bit (a single photon), marking a first step towards the implementation of a quantum network with nodes consisting of semiconductor spin quantum bits.

Quantum teleportation from a propagating photon to a solid-state spin qubit

Future quantum technologies will require interfaces between photons transmitting information and solid-state devices storing and manipulating it. Towards this aim, Gao et al.show the transfer of information from a single photon to a semiconductor quantum dot through quantum teleportation protocols.

Convergent Akt activation drives acquired EGFR inhibitor resistance in lung cancer

EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer are often resistant to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment. In this study, the authors show that resistant tumors display high Akt activation and that a combined treatment with AKT inhibitors causes synergistic tumour growth inhibition in vitro and in vivo.

The Hippo effector YAP promotes resistance to RAF- and MEK-targeted cancer therapies

Trever Bivona and colleagues show that the Hippo pathway effector YAP promotes resistance to RAF and MEK inhibitor therapy in multiple types of BRAF-mutant tumors. The findings suggest that combined suppression of YAP and RAF-MEK signaling might enhance treatment response and prevent drug resistance.
