Observation of charge–parity symmetry breaking in baryon decays

The LHCb experiment at CERN has observed significant asymmetries between the decay rates of the beauty baryon and its CP-conjugated antibaryon, thus demonstrating CP violation in baryon decays.

Spin excitations in a single La₂CuO₄ layer

The dynamics of spins in single atomic layers of cuprates and other compounds are important for understanding their properties, such as magnetism and high-temperature superconductivity. Now, spin excitations in isolated single layers of a cuprate have been measured, providing valuable feedback on their magnetic properties.

Revealing 3D magnetization of thin films with soft X-ray tomography: magnetic singularities and topological charges

Although magnetic tomography has been used in the past to determine the 3D magnetization of materials its application to thin films remains challenging. Here the authors reconstruct the magnetization of a thin film, enabling the measurement of topological charges of magnetic singularities.

Nanoscale imaging of buried topological defects with quantitative X-ray magnetic microscopy

Transmission X-ray microscopy allows for the imaging of magnetic domains in thin film materials. Here, the authors exploit the angular dependence of the magnetic contrast to extract out-of-plane canting angles of stripe domains and topological defects in NdCo₅films buried under a NiFe layer.

The existence and properties of tetraquark states with two heavy quarks and two light antiquarks have been widely debated. Here, the authors use a unitarized model to study the properties of an exotic narrow state compatible with a doubly charmed tetraquark.
