Imaging methods, such as CT or MRI, cannot provide accurate diagnosis between malignant thymomas and other thymic abnormalities. Here the authors show that the levels of IL-8 in circulating naive T cells are elevated in patients with thymoma compared with other thymic masses, proposing IL-8 as a candidate biomarker for thymoma diagnosis and recurrence surveillance.
