Immunogenicity and safety of a recombinant gE-Fc fusion protein subunit vaccine for herpes zoster in adults ≥50 years of age: a randomised, active-controlled, non-inferiority trial

In this clinical trial, the authors demonstrate that recombinant gE-Fc Fusion Protein Vaccine LZ901 for herpes zoster induces superior cellular immunogenicity and exhibits a better safety profile than HZ/su in adults ≥50 years, supporting its potential as vaccine candidate.

Chitosan confinement enhances hydrogen photogeneration from a mimic of the diiron subsite of [FeFe]-hydrogenase

Naturally occurring hydrogenase enzymes are capable of efficient hydrogen production but low stability and high cost limits their industrial use. Here, the authors show that chitosan encapsulation improves the catalytic efficiency of a mimic of the diiron subsite of the H-cluster of [FeFe]-hydrogenase.

Solar-driven defluorination via hydroxyl radical spillover for complete mineralization of organofluorine pollutants without fluoride byproducts

Current strategies for the remediation of fluorinated organic pollutants suffer from high energy consumption and secondary pollution risk. Here, the authors present a solar-powered mineralization strategy using cerium oxide/mesoporous silica heterojunction photocatalysts that achieves complete defluorination of different types of organofluorine contaminants, including fluorinated e-waste, fluoro-antibiotics and perfluorinated surfactants.
