Transition from the topological to the chaotic in the nonlinear Su–Schrieffer–Heeger model

Nonlinear topological insulators are investigated from the viewpoint of dynamical systems. Strong nonlinearity induces spatially chaotic modes, which break the conventional notion of topology - the bulk-edge correspondence between topological invariants and localized modes.
