Particle bombardment is a widely used tool for plant genetic engineering, but its low efficiency has been a bottleneck since its commercialization. Here, the authors design a flow guiding barrel to modulate particle and gas flow dynamics inside the gene gun and show its ability to enhance plant transformation efficiency.
