A space-confined chemical vapour transport strategy is reported for synthesizing multicomponent two-dimensional materials without phase separation and composition inhomogeneity. Twelve types of transition metal phosphorous chalcogenides and their high-entropy alloys (up to nine elements) are synthesized.
