Intraepithelial T cells move from gut to breast to shape lactation

During late gestation, unconventional intraepithelial αβ T cells migrate from the gut to the mammary gland to remodel the tissue for lactation and enhance its mucosal barrier state.

Intestinal intraepithelial lymphocyte activation promotes innate antiviral resistance

Intraepithelial lymphocytes in the gut eliminate dysfunctional epithelial cells and promote regrowth of healthy cells. Here the authors show that, in addition, these lymphocytes protect cells against viral infections by rapidly activating interferon-dependent pathways in intestinal epithelial cells.

IL-15 and PIM kinases direct the metabolic programming of intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes

Intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) respond to IL-15 complexed with IL-15Ra but how this intrinsically affects IEL is unclear. Here the authors use proteomics analyses of the main mouse IEL subsets and identify PIM kinases as essential for IEL proliferation, metabolism and effector function downstream of IL-15.
