Pospíšilová and Bosák et al. provide experimental evidence that A1873G mutation in TP0705 locus leads to partial ceftriaxone and penicillin G resistance in Treponema pallidum. The majority of contemporary strains harbor this mutation and thus represent a risk of an increase in their level of resistance to β-lactam antibiotics.
