  • This study reports on the simultaneous emergence of the impurity Kondo effect and incommensurate magnetic ordering in the layered material AgCrSe2 these usually mutually exclusive phenomena complement each other. The ability to enable Kondo effect in association with the antiferromagnetic order, provides a novel route to tune the competition between magnetic correlations and Kondo screening.

  • The spiral spin liquid is a spin liquid state characterized by short range correlations that maintain the spin spiral locally, but without the global order of the standard spin spiral. Material realization of this state has been lacking. Here, through neutron scattering measurements, Andriushin et al confirm a spiral spin liquid state in AgCrSe2.

  • Scale-invariant magnetic anisotropy in RuCl3 has been revealed through measurements of its magnetotropic coefficient, providing evidence for a high degree of exchange frustration that favours the formation of a spin liquid state.

  • An approach to design compensated ferrimagnetic Heusler alloys is established. A small lack of compensation produces giant exchange bias and large coercivity. This effect is observed for alloys that have the magnetic transition above room temperature.

  • Magnetoresistance of topological semimetal shows unusual electron transport behaviour. Here, Arnold et al. demonstrate detailed Fermi surface topology of Weyl semimetal TaP and show that negative longitudinal magnetoresistance shows up without well-defined Weyl fermions.

  • Insights into the behavior of quantum materials are only possible because of the development of suitable experimental probes. Modic et. al. develop the theoretical and experimental basis for resonant torsion magnetometry—a technique to measure anisotropic magnetic responses with high sensitivity.
