Unlocking anionic redox activity in O3-type sodium 3d layered oxides via Li substitution

Sodium ion batteries could be an attractive alternative to Li-ion technology but designing high energy density and moisture stable Na-based cathodes is challenging. Adjusting synthesis conditions and stoichiometry, an O3-type NaLi_1/3Mn_2/3O₂ phase with anionic redox activity is reported.
