Direct conversion of methane to formaldehyde and CO on B₂O₃ catalysts

Partial oxidation of methane to value-added C₁ products remains challenging due to the favorable formation of fully-oxidized CO₂. Here, the authors show supported B₂O₃ catalysts with tri-coordinated BO₃ units as the active site are highly selective in oxidizing methane to HCHO and CO.

Preneoplastic stromal cells promote BRCA1-mediated breast tumorigenesis

Premalignant stromal cells from women with germline BRCA1 mutations exhibit increased expression of secreted factors regulating epithelial homeostasis in a paracrine fashion. These secreted factors, such as MMP3, promote premalignant epithelial changes including elevated proliferation and altered differentiation of a subpopulation of luminal progenitor cells.

Confined Cu-OH single sites in SSZ-13 zeolite for the direct oxidation of methane to methanol

High yields of methanol are difficult to achieve with direct oxidation of methane to methanol. Here the authors report a high methanol space-time yield which is attributed to the confinement effect of 6-membered ring voids and the isolated Cu-OH single sites in SSZ−13 zeolite.

Coexpression networks identify brain region–specific enhancer RNAs in the human brain

Identifying enhancers regions has been primarily focused on model organisms and human transformed cell lines. This study characterizes enhancer RNA (eRNA) expression in the human brain by identifying brain region–specific eRNAs and assessing eRNA-gene coexpression interactions. The authors further demonstrate an enrichment of brain eRNAs for autism-associated genetic variants.
