Spectral evidence for sublimates and adsorbates on Io

The reflectance spectrum of Io can be explained by a surface layer consisting of fine-grained particles of sublimated alkali sulphides and sulphur on which H₂S and SO₂ are adsorbed.

T- and X-shaped polyphilic liquid crystals can generate ordered structures with potential nanotechnology applications. Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) is still not well understood. Here the authors provide patient reported outcomes from 590 hospitalized COVID-19 patients and show association of PASC with higher respiratory SARS-CoV-2 load and circulating antibody titers, and in some an elevation in circulating fibroblast growth factor 21.

Methylthiolation by radical SAM enzymes is thought to include the sacrificial breakdown of a second Fe-S cluster to generate the sulfur cosubstrate.
