Ronghui Song et al. demonstrate that a lawsone (2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone)-based compound decreases the drug resistance of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus much better than conventional antibiotics. This study provides insights into the design and action mechanism of effective antibiotics that overcome the antibiotic resistance of bacteria.
