  • Higher order topological systems add an additional layer of complexity to the bulk boundary correspondence by being able to sustain additional modes such as corner and hinge states. Here, the authors use electrical circuits to realize a two-dimensional quasicrystalline quadrupole topological insulator without discrete translational symmetry and observe localized corner modes.

  • Beta3-adrenergic receptor (b3-AR) signaling in response to cold activates adipose tissue thermogenesis. Here the authors identify the transcription factor FoxP1 as a direct negative regulator of b3-AR expression and show that loss of FoxP1 leads to enhanced development of thermogenic adipose tissue.

  • The combination of nonlinearity and topology has recently attracted significant attention in the field of optical physics. This work considers a photonic Chern insulator in the nonlinear regime and explores the properties of topological bulk solitons holding the stability and robustness, which contributes to the field of nonlinear topological photonics and provides further physical understandings towards other photonic topological insulators with nonlinearity.
