General framework for E(3)-equivariant neural network representation of density functional theory Hamiltonian

Fundamental symmetries are crucial to the deep-learning modeling of physical systems. Here the authors use equivariant neural networks preserving the Euclidean symmetries to accelerate electronic structure calculations by orders of magnitude keeping sub-meV accuracy.

Room-temperature low-threshold avalanche effect in stepwise van-der-Waals homojunction photodiodes

The avalanche or carrier-multiplication effect has the potential to improve the performance of photodetectors and solar cells, but usually requires high threshold energies. Here, the authors report stepwise WSe₂ homojunctions exhibiting threshold energies approaching the semiconductor bandgap at room temperature.

Based on the configurable circular-polarization-dependent optoelectronic silent state, our integrated circular polarization detector achieves a near-infinite circular polarization extinction ratio and an ultralow noise equivalent light ellipticity difference of 0.009° Hz^−1/2.
