Heterogeneous integration of 2D memristor arrays and silicon selectors for compute-in-memory hardware in convolutional neural networks

Here, the authors report the heterogeneous integration of 2D HfSe₂ memristor crossbar arrays, Si selectors and peripheral control-sensing circuits, showing improved power consumption and response times. The reported hardware was applied for the implementation of computing-in-memory convolutional neural networks.

Interplay between superconductivity and ferromagnetism in crystalline nanowires

When a superconductor is in contact with a normal metal, Cooper pairs from the superconductor ‘leak’ into the metal, causing local superconductivity. When in contact with a ferromagnet, however, Cooper pairs do not stray very far. Therefore, the discovery that a ferromagnetic nanowire goes completely superconducting when placed between two superconducting electrodes is surprising indeed.

Giant anisotropic magnetoresistance in a quantum anomalous Hall insulator

When magnetized out-of-plane, three-dimensional ferromagnetic topological insulator thin films exhibit the quantum anomalous Hall effect. Here, the authors follow the evolution of this dissipationless chiral edge transport effect as the magnetization is brought in-plane under an applied magnetic field.

Tuning the Chern number in quantum anomalous Hall insulators

The number of edge channels in quantum anomalous Hall insulators is controlled by varying either the magnetic dopant concentration or the interior spacer layer thickness, yielding Chern numbers up to 5.

Spin-valley locking and bulk quantum Hall effect in a noncentrosymmetric Dirac semimetal BaMnSb₂

Valley dependent spin polarization called spin-valley locking appears in absence of magnetism but it is limited to rare examples of transition metal dichalcogenides. Here, the authors report evidence of spin-valley locking and stacked quantum Hall effect in a bulk Dirac semimetal BaMnSb₂.
