The Beaufort Gyre, the largest Arctic freshwater reservoir, will accumulate more freshwater, elevate sea level, and intensify its circulation as the climate warms, driven by increased freshwater fluxes and intensified surface stress from wind strengthening and sea ice decline, according to high-resolution simulations and the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6 dataset.
