Predictive modelling-based design and experiments for synthesis and spinning of bioinspired silk fibres

Reproducing many naturally occurring silk fibres—such as spider silk—remains a challenge. Here, the authors develop a predictive modelling approach to understand and design the artificial synthesis and fibre-spinning processes, which are tested in the laboratory to create de novobioinspired silk fibres.

Reverse oxygen spillover triggered by CO adsorption on Sn-doped Pt/TiO₂ for low-temperature CO oxidation

Reverse O spillover has opened new opportunities in improving the catalytic activity and selectivity in various reactions. Herein Sn is doped into TiO2 to activate low-temperature (<100 °C) reverse oxygen spillover in Pt/TiO2 catalyst, leading to enhanced CO oxidation activity.

Suppressed phase separation of mixed-halide perovskites confined in endotaxial matrices

The bandgap of mixed-halide perovskites can be continuously tuned by changing the halide ratio, but the crystals have poor photo-stability. Here the authors show that photoinduced phase separation is suppressed when perovskite nanocrystals are embedded in a non-perovskite endotaxial matrix.
