An abscisic acid-responsive protein interaction network for sucrose non-fermenting related kinase1 in abiotic stress response

Carianopol et al. construct a detailed protein interaction network for the SnRK1 kinase complex to investigate the interaction of SnRK1 and ABA during stress response. They identify 125 proteins that interact with SnRK1, which can be used further to characterise the role of SnRK1 in plant survival under stress.

SMAX1-dependent seed germination bypasses GA signalling in Arabidopsis and Striga

The parasitic plant Striga hermonthica germinates when it senses strigolactones (SLs). By expressing Striga SL receptors in Arabidopsis, the authors show that the SL pathway can regulate germination independently of gibberellin signalling.

Structural analysis of a hormone-bound Striga strigolactone receptor

Strigolactone (SL) regulates plant development. Structural analysis shows that when SL binds its receptor ShHTL5, conformational changes occur including the creation of internal tunnels that posit an explanation for how SL by-products exit the receptor after signalling.
