Atomically dispersed cerium on copper tailors interfacial water structure for efficient CO-to-acetate electroreduction

Electrosynthesis of acetate from CO using renewable electricity faces low selectivity. Here, the authors report a cerium single atom modulated copper catalyst, where cerium atoms tailor the interfacial water structure, enabling highly selective CO-to-acetate conversion under pulsed electrolysis.

Hypoxia and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition promotes cancer metastasis. Here the authors show that Daxx inhibits hypoxia-induced lung cancer metastasis by attenuating Slug-mediated transcriptional repression of epithelial-like markers that in turn cause cells to exhibit low invasiveness.

Human methyltransferase MLL4 mediates embryonic development and is dysregulated in diseases. Zhang et al. found that binding of PHD fingers of MLL4 to ASXL1/2 is required for recruitment of the deubiquitinase BAP1 to MLL4-bound active enhancers in vitro.

The tumour suppressor p53 inhibits cancer cell proliferation and induces apoptosis. A new tumour-suppressive effect of p53 is to induce MDM2-dependent degradation of the tumour invasion factor Slug, resulting in reduced metastasis.

Histone methyltransferase MLL4 is a transcriptional regulator. Here the authors identify the PHD6 finger of MLL4 as a selective reader of the epigenetic modification H4K16ac and show that a subset of MLL4 chromatin binding sites overlap with H4K16ac-enriched regions, which depends on MOF activity.
