Scalable magnetoreceptive e-skin for energy-efficient high-resolution interaction towards undisturbed extended reality

Realizing large area magnetoreceptive electronic skin with spatially continuous sensing is difficult. Here, the authors integrate the giant magnetoresistance effect and electrical resistance tomography to achieve continuous sensing of magnetic fields across an area of 120 × 120 mm2 with a resolution of 1 mm.

Air-stable redox-active nanomagnets with lanthanide spins radical-bridged by a metal–metal bond

Dilanthanide complexes that possess radical bridges exhibit enhanced magnetic exchange coupling, affording molecular magnets with high blocking temperatures. Here, the authors explore a series of dilanthanide-encapsulated fullerenes where the radical bridge is taken to its limit and the role is played by a single unpaired electron.

Flexomagnetism and vertically graded Néel temperature of antiferromagnetic Cr₂O₃ thin films

Flexomagnetism refers to the modification of the magnetic properties of a material due to inhomogeneous strain, and offers a promising pathway to the control and manipulation of magnetism. Here, Makushko et al. explore flexomagnetism in antiferromagnetic thin films of Cr₂O₃, demonstrating a gradient of the Néel temperature as a result of an inhomogeneous strain.

Single molecule magnets have demonstrated promise for information storage, molecular spintronics and quantum computing, but are limited by their low operational temperatures. Here, Popov and coworkers prepare a SMM with a high blocking temperature of 18 K by trapping two lanthanide ions with a single-electron bond inside a fullerene.
