Sakayori et al. show that feeding pregnant mice with a diet high in omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and low in omega-3 PUFAs triggers hedonic consumption in the offspring by increasing its dopaminergic neurogenesis. This study suggests that maternal consumption of diets with unbalanced PUFAs contributes to the offspring’s overconsumption of foods.
