Sivakumaran et al. show that a 12-gene signature combined with gender, previously diagnosed tuberculosis (TB), severe thinness, smoking, and alcohol consumption predict the treatment outcome at 6 months. This study suggests that the combination of biomarkers and basic patient characteristics may better predict the treatment failure at an early stage of TB therapy.
