Advanced parametrization for the production of high-energy solid-state lithium pouch cells containing polymer electrolytes

Multiscale design principles and empirical processing techniques are considered for the design of high-energy-density Li-based batteries using polymer electrolytes. Here, the authors demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach by assembling and testing ampere-hour-level solid-state lithium-based pouch cells.

Peptide bond formation destabilizes Shine–Dalgarno interaction on the ribosome

How the Shine–Dalgarno (SD) sequence affects binding of the ribosome to mRNA is examined by measuring the force required to tear the ribosome from an mRNA with or without the SD sequence. This finds that the SD sequence stabilizes the ribosome–mRNA interaction before the first peptide bond is formed, but that once this occurs, the SD sequence can no longer stabilize it.

Vascular remodeling by placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells restores ovarian function in ovariectomized rat model via the VEGF pathway

Vascular endothelial growth factor secreted by placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells (PD-MSCs) promotes follicular development and ovarian function after ovariectomy through vascular remodeling. These results provide fundamental data for understanding the therapeutic mechanisms of stem cell therapy based on placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells PD-MSCs and provide a theoretical foundation for their application for obstetrical and gynecological diseases, including infertility and menopause.

Universal high work function flexible anode for simplified ITO-free organic and perovskite light-emitting diodes with ultra-high efficiency

We report a new anode material that has multifunction of both an anode and a hole injection layer (HIL) as a single layer. Our anode has easy work function tunability up to 5.8 eV and thus makes ohmic contact without any HIL. We applied our anodes to simplified organic light-emitting diodes, resulting in high efficiency (62% ph el⁻¹ for single and 88% ph el⁻¹ for tandem). Our anode showed a similar tendency in simplified perovskite light-emitting diodes. We also demonstrated large-area flexible lightings using our anodes. Our results provide a significant step toward the next generation of high-performance simplified light-emitting diodes.

Ultrasensitive PbS quantum-dot-sensitized InGaZnO hybrid photoinverter for near-infrared detection and imaging with high photogain

We propose hybrid approach of two classes of PbS QD as NIR light absorber and IGZO as the photogenerated charges acceptor/transport semiconductor to create phototransistor for near infrared (NIR) detection/imaging. Such hybrid phototransistor shows photodetection capability between 700 and 1400 nm. We demonstrate a NIR (1300 nm) imager using photogating inverter pixel based on PbS/IGZO hybrid phototransistor.
