De novo design of light-responsive protein–protein interactions enables reversible formation of protein assemblies

Light-responsive proteins hold significant potential in biotechnology but naturally occurring examples are scarce and limited in diversity. Now a totally de novo computational approach has been developed to design light-responsive proteins with diverse architectures by precisely incorporating the non-canonical amino acid phenylalanine-4′-azobenzene (AzoF), which is responsive to light.

PNPLA7 mediates Parkin-mitochondrial recruitment in adipose tissue for mitophagy and inhibits browning

PINK1/Parkin-mediated ubiquitin-dependent mitophagy is a key regulator of browning in inguinal white adipose tissue (iWAT). Here, the authors report that PNPLA7, an Endoplasmic Reticulum and mitochondria-associated membrane (MAM) protein, inhibits browning of iWAT by promoting PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy upon cold challenge or adrenergic receptor agonist treatment.

Pulmonary artery denervation by noninvasive stereotactic radiotherapy: a pilot study in swine models of pulmonary hypertension

Catheter-based pulmonary artery denervation (PADN) has achieved promising outcomes to treat pulmonary hypertension (PH). Here, the authors show stereotactic body radiotherapy is a novel noninvasive approach for PADN with improved pulmonary hemodynamics in both acute and chronic PH swine models.

Suppression of phase segregation in wide-bandgap perovskites with thiocyanate ions for perovskite/organic tandems with 25.06% efficiency

Wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells suffer from phase segregation. Zhang et al. show that thiocyanate ions overcome the issue by occupying iodide vacancies while regulating crystallization, enabling perovskite/organic tandem cells with 25.06% efficiency.
