  • Scientists show that spatiotemporal focusing and compression of non-Fourier-limited pulses through scattering media can be achieved by manipulating only the spatial degrees of freedom of the incident wavefront. This technique is potentially attractive for optical manipulation and nonlinear imaging in scattering media.

  • The effects of interactions on Hanbury Brown and Twiss interferometry are studied by considering the propagation of light in a nonlinear optical medium. The interactions affect the multipath interference, which makes it difficult to extract information about the light source. Nevertheless, the recovery of the disordered information is demonstrated through proper analysis.

  • Following an impulsive laser excitation of a single molecule, a dispersed vibrational wave-packet is partially rephased by a second pulse, and a wave-packet echo is observed. This wave-packet echo probes ultrafast intramolecular processes in the isolated molecule.

  • Characterizing not only the fluorescence intensity but also the inherent quantum correlations of the fluorescent photon stream can enhance the spatial resolution of image scanning microscopy up to twofold, a fourfold improvement over the diffraction limit.

  • The Anderson localization of light within disordered media has become a topic of great interest in recent years. Here the characterization of the effect and its related phenomena are reviewed, with a discussion on the role that nonlinearity and quantum correlated photons can play.
