  • The FANTOM4 study identified transcriptional start sites active during proliferation arrest and differentiation of the human monocytic cell line THP-1. Systematic knockdown of 52 transcription factors provide support for their model in which a complex transcriptional network regulates the differentiation process.

  • The spin-orbit torque \({\tau }_{{\rm{DL}}}\) arising from spin Hall effect is often constrained by low values of spin Hall efficiency \({\theta }_{{\rm{SH}}}\). In this work, introducing phosphorus (P) into platinum (Pt) by ion implantation, thereby forming Pt(P), a significant increase in \({\theta }_{{\rm{SH}}}\) is found. This, in turn, leads to a reduction in the charge current density \({J}_{{\rm{DC}}}\) for magnetization switching. This new amorphous material achieves a remarkable 34-fold increase in \({\theta }_{{\rm{SH}}}\), from 0.034 (pure Pt) to 1.17, making it a strong candidate for energy-efficient spintronic devices and offering a pathway beyond conventional crystalline solids.

  • Ryoichi Yano et al. report a Nanopore-based reference genome assembly of muskmelon—a fruit known for its many cultivated varieties, including cantaloupe and honeydew—using the Japanese Harukei-3 cultivar. They identify structural genetic variation by comparing the reference to several melon genome assemblies and investigate tissue-wide gene expression patterns by RNA sequencing.
