Cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury is a deleterious consequence of reperfusion therapy for myocardial infarction. Here, the authors show that FNDC4 alleviates cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury through facilitating HIF1α-dependent cardiomyocyte survival and angiogenesis.
