G9a-mediated methylation of ERα links the PHF20/MOF histone acetyltransferase complex to hormonal gene expression

The histone methyltransferase G9a methylates histone H3K9 to repress gene expression, but it also acts as a coactivator for some nuclear receptors. Here, Zhang et al. show that methylation of ERα by G9a recruits the PHF20/MOF complex that deposits histone H4K16 acetylation promoting active transcription.

Broad H3K4me3 is associated with increased transcription elongation and enhancer activity at tumor-suppressor genes

Wei Li, Qianben Wang and colleagues analyze genome-wide epigenetic patterns in tumor and normal tissues and find that broad H3K4me3 peaks are associated with increased transcription elongation and are enriched at tumor-suppressor genes. They demonstrate that this epigenetic mark may be used to identify new candidate tumor-suppressor genes.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy plus nivolumab with or without ipilimumab in operable non-small cell lung cancer: the phase 2 platform NEOSTAR trial

The combination of neoadjuvant nivolumab, ipilimumab and chemotherapy showed promising efficacy in patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer, with higher tumor immune cell infiltration and tertiary lymphoid structures after treatment compared with neoadjuvant nivolumab plus chemotherapy.
