A modular biomimetic strategy for the synthesis of macrolide P-glycoprotein inhibitors via Rh-catalyzed C-H activation

One strategy to address multidrug resistance in cancer is the development of modular methods to access bioactive scaffolds. Here, the authors report a Rh(III)-catalyzed carboxylic acid-directed C(sp²)−H allylation and apply it to the modular synthesis of (Z)-allylic macrolides which enhance antitumoral drug activity.

Perovskite spin light-emitting diodes with simultaneously high electroluminescence dissymmetry and high external quantum efficiency

He et al. report spin-LEDs based on chiral perovskite quantum dots which act as localized spin-selective units and radiative recombination centers simultaneously. Ultrasonic treatment assisted ligand exchange enables spin-LEDs with peak efficiency of 16.8% and dissymmetry factor of 0.285.

Epstein-Barr virus infection upregulates extracellular OLFM4 to activate YAP signaling during gastric cancer progression

The functions of microvesicles (MVs) in gastric cancer are less studied compared to other types of extracellular vesicles. Here, the authors report that in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC), Olfactomedin 4 protein is enriched in secreted MVs to promote EBVaGC progression by inhibiting the Hippo signaling in tumor cells.
