From: Spatial correlation of 2D hard-tissue histology with 3D microCT scans through 3D printed phantoms
Visualization of the functional steps realized to retrieve the physical cutting plane of the sectioned hard-tissue by the created software. The process was split into two information retrieval scripts to extract the position of the marker objects from microCT-Volume (green) and the ellipse parameters from the post-sectioning histological image (gold). By correlating both modalities in the red pipeline, the extraction of the in silico cut plane and the subsequent verification of the process through 2D → 2D registration was realized. The resulting match of in silico cut plane and histological image was then quantified using similarity scores.
