  1. Unclassified dense deposit disease had only two cases and was not used for further analysis.
  2. Data expressed as # positive/total tested; combinations are a subset of the individual immunoglobulin columns (eg mesangial proliferative pattern: IgG 8/28; IgG/IgM 5/28=5 of the 8 cases with IgG were also positive for IgM).
  3. IF was not performed on one case with the membranoproliferative pattern and two cases with the mesangial proliferative pattern.
  4. C1q staining was carried out on 11/16 with the membranoproliferative pattern, 18/30 with the mesangial proliferative pattern, 5/12 with the crescentic pattern and 6/8 with the acute proliferative and exudative pattern.
  5. aIgM—mesangial proliferative pattern vs membranoproliferative pattern, P<0.01.
  6. bIgA—crescentic pattern vs membranoproliferative pattern, P<0.05.
  7. cC1q—acute proliferative and exudative pattern vs membranoproliferative pattern, P<0.01; acute proliferative and exudative pattern vs crescentic pattern, P<0.05.
  8. All other comparisons, no significant differences.
