Davies and Guiton reply

Erni et al. claim the data reported in our Article1 do not support our hypothesis of periodic nanoscale compositional modulations in the (Nd2/3−xLi3x)TiO3 system. Their Correspondence2 includes new scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) data to support their conclusion that the contrast observed in our high-angle annular dark-field (HAADF) images is exclusively associated with strain and does not contain any contributions from a modulation in composition. The authors also provide a brief overview of supportive evidence and reference to a paper claimed to provide “a complete quantitative structure solution”3.
