Carva, Battiato and Oppeneer (CBO) comment on our paper1. They raise three main points: first, the model presented by us does not treat a pump-probe set-up; second, it only considers how the magnetization M is modified due to optical transitions of band electrons; and third, the studied first-order magneto-optical susceptibility can rigorously be shown to be zero. While we welcome constructive criticisms, we find these claims self-contradicting and disappointing.
