H2O2 sensing: the missing 'Lynk'

In a search to identify a redox detector in zebrafish, the authors observed that SFKs are activated at the leading edge of neutrophils around wound sites in response to tissue damage. Huttenlocher and colleagues examined SFK activation under wounding conditions in which H2O2 generation was inhibited and found that this inhibition prevented SFK phosphorylation. Further experiments showed that inhibition of SFK activity attenuated neutrophil migration in response to wounding in zebrafish and disrupted H2O2-mediated chemotaxis of primary human neutrophils.

Lyn acts as a redox sensor in neutrophils and mediates their migration in response to H2O2.
