High systolic blood pressure (SBP) may account for most of the risk of progression to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), according to a recent study by the investigators of the Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP).

The KEEP investigators performed the current study to investigate the associations of SBP, diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and pulse pressure with ESRD risk among patients with CKD. They included 16,129 KEEP participants with an estimated glomerular filtration rate of <60 ml/min/1.73 m2 in the analyses.
