EFFICACY OF HYDROCORTISONE IN RESTORING BLOOD PRESSURE IN INFANTS ON DOPAMINE THERAPY: 1489

Hydrocortisone is utilized to restore normal blood pressure in infants receiving progressively increasing doses of dopamine. Serial prospective measurements were obtained pre and post 10 mgs/kg of hydrocortisone, followed by 5 mgs/kg q8h for two days. Results based on survivors (8 deaths):Table CONCLUSION: Hydrocortisone is significantly efficacious in reducing the dose of dopamine whereby blood pressure is maintained within limits.
