The field examines various aspects, such as the choice of locally available natural resources, the set of animal husbandry and farming practices tailored to answer garment production demands, the contribution of hunting in economic activities, landscape use and mobility, as well as cultural exchanges and trade routes. It also sheds light on dress practices and identities of past individuals and communities, and craft technologies related to the functionality and material properties of cloth.
