Alveolar epithelial cells were inoculated with heat-inactivated or live U. urealyticum or U. parvum strains at indicated MOI. Cells were stained with DCFDA to determine ROS generation after 3 h (a, b). Culture supernatants were harvested after 24 h and 48 h incubation. (c, d) IL-6 and (e, f) IL-8 levels in the culture supernatants were determined by ELISA. g, h Cytotoxicity was determined by quantifying the amount of LDH.
