  1. Tukey’s HSD post hoc analyses were used to explore significant demographic and symptomological differences across groups. Age: Individuals in the intermediate 1 and 2 cognitive groups were significantly older than the CCC group (p < 0.001). Mean age of the healthy controls and severely impaired cognitive group was not significantly different from other groups. Education: Those in the healthy control and CCC groups had significantly more education that the other cognitive groups (p < 0.001). Estimated Premorbid Ability: The healthy control, CCC, and intermediate 1 cognitive groups had significantly higher average estimated premorbid ability compared to individuals in the severely impaired cognitive group (p < 0.001). The CCC cognitive group had significantly fewer hospitalizations than the other cognitive groups (p = 0.036). Social Functioning: The healthy control group had significantly greater social functioning scale scores compared to all cognitive groups (p < 0.001). PANSS positive, negative, and total symptoms: The intermediate 2 and severely impaired cognitive groups had increased positive symptoms compared to the intermediate 1 and CCC cognitive groups (p < 0.001–0.02). PANSS general symptoms (e.g., anxiety and depression): The CCC cognitive group had significantly fewer general psychopathological symptoms compared to the other cognitive groups (p < 0.001).
  2. *p ≤ 0.5. **p < 0.001.
