In this, the third in the series looking at virtues in dentistry, Janine Brooks MBE explore what it means to act with compassion and prudence for the dental professional

Looking back to my first article - prudence is deemed to be an intellectual virtue, helping us to gain knowledge, understand the world around us and make well-informed decisions.1 The virtue of compassion falls into the category of a moral virtue, helping us to make ethical decisions and behave in ways that are consistent with the values and principles of our community - that is our patients and our profession.
