Too much too young?

Dentistry is a rewarding career which gives great personal and professional satisfaction.

Having worked in dentistry for 40 years, I know that with the ups, there can also be significant downs. As the NHS has become more regulated, more fiscal and less altruistic, those working in the service have been experiencing increasing pressure as they continue to strive to provide patients with the best care. Some days, for all of us, it feels like the weight of responsibility and the stresses placed upon us can be too great. We know stress and burnout is a problem for dentists and in 2019, BDA research further indicated the high levels of poor mental health in dentists across the UK.1
