Stephen Hancocks - The Greatest Showman!

I write this personal BDJ Perspectives piece with mixed emotions. On one hand, I am saddened by Stephen's impending retirement and will miss his steerage of the good ship ‘British Dental Journal (BDJ) portfolio' into new territories (both literally and metaphorically) in the coming years. On the other hand, I am privileged to have him in my life, to call Stephen a true friend, colleague, confidant, mentor, sounding board and inspiration, both professionally and personally; the epitome of all that's positive in a person and our profession.

As his 20-year reign at the helm of the BDJ,1 as its longest running Editor-in-Chief ever, comes to a close, it is highly opportune that we can look back in complete admiration of a fulfilled gentleman and his career that has impacted so positively the profession as a whole and personally, the many people he has come into contact with and influenced over the years.
