Vertical dotted lines denote quartiles of total fixations (e.g., the vertical line denoting Q3, indicates that 75% of the trials had up to 34 fixations). The colored dots represent the total number of fixations (y axis) from participants across both groups and time points. The colors indicate the areas of interest (AOIs) where those fixations occurred: two relevant scales (teal), two irrelevant scales (purple), and the question area (yellow). Gray points indicate fixations to points on the screen outside the AOIs
