a, Transmitter driver circuit schematic and driver highlighted in the transmitter illustration; data as Vin drives the micro-disk as Vout. b, Receiver circuit schematic and the receiver highlighted in the receiver illustration; amplification converts Iin to Vout. In the schematics, a multiplier labels each transistor width as a multiple of a ‘1x’ transistor. The ‘1x’ transistor has a width of 500 nm and length of 30 nm in the transmitter and 300 nm by 30 nm in the receiver.
