The authors are retracting this article to correct the scientific literature owing to issues noticed with cell-based cAMP accumulation data of mutants of the CB1 receptor in response to CB1 agonists. These data were presented in Fig. 1d, Fig. 3c, Extended Data Fig. 4 and Extended Data Table 2. The authors have repeated these experiments independently and the new data, which do not alter the conclusions of the study, are presented in a revised manuscript, which has now been published after peer review1.
All authors agree with the retraction.
